Meralco intensifies full restoration efforts amid bad weather

Meralco has significantly reduced the number of customers experiencing power interruptions caused by recent inclement weather, thanks to continuous round-the-clock restoration work by its personnel.

As of 9:00 a.m. today, power restoration efforts are ongoing for approximately 12,000 customers—primarily in Cavite, Metro Manila, and Bulacan—who remain affected by flooding. The utility company has placed all crews on full alert in anticipation of Tropical Depression Dante and the southwest monsoon, which are expected to bring further heavy rains across its service area.

Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga assured the public of the company’s full commitment: “We remain vigilant as we monitor the current weather conditions that affect our franchise area. We remain fully committed to restoring electricity service to all impacted customers as safely and swiftly as possible.”

He also urged the public to continue practicing electrical safety, especially in flood-hit areas, echoing reminders from the Department of Energy.

Beyond electricity restoration, Meralco is extending direct support to affected communities. Meralco Rescue has deployed high-bed trucks and motorized fiberglass boats for both restoration and rescue missions. Meanwhile, the company’s social development arm has launched disaster relief operations for heavily impacted residents.

Customers may report outages or seek assistance through Meralco’s social media channels, via SMS at 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211, or by calling the 24/7 hotline at 16211.
