GSIS expands emergency loan program across more Luzon areas

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has broadened its emergency loan program to include additional localities in Luzon and the National Capital Region (NCR), following new state of calamity declarations by local government units.

Effective 25 July, GSIS members and pensioners in Cainta, San Mateo, and Montalban (Rizal), and the cities of Malabon, Marikina, Las Piñas, Navotas, and Valenzuela can now apply for emergency loans until 24 October 2025. Coverage also extends to Agoncillo (Batangas), Balagtas (Bulacan), Malasiqui and Dagupan (Pangasinan), Roxas (Palawan), and the provinces of Bataan and Pampanga, with loan applications open until 24 August 2025.

These areas join earlier declared locations such as Cavite, Quezon City, Calumpit (Bulacan), Umingan (Pangasinan), and Manila.

GSIS officer-in-charge Juliet Bautista emphasized the initiative’s consumer and institutional impact: “This expanded coverage is part of our continuing commitment to provide immediate relief to our members and pensioners affected by Tropical Storm Crising, habagat, and related calamities.”

Eligible active members may borrow up to P20,000 or P40,000 if they have an existing emergency loan, with repayment terms of three years, a 6 percent annual interest rate, and zero processing fees. Pensioners are also eligible, subject to a minimum 25 percent retention of their net monthly pension.

Applications may be filed through the GSIS Touch mobile app—used by 99.79 percent of applicants on Day One—GSIS kiosks, or over the counter.

The GSIS is prepared to expand the loan window further as more LGUs submit calamity declarations. “We are ready to extend assistance to ensure no member is left behind in times of need,” Bautista said.
