Price rollback for gasoline, hikes for diesel and Kerosene; increases deferred in some areas

Motorists will see mixed fuel price adjustments at the pump starting Tuesday (July 29), with gasoline prices dropping slightly while diesel and kerosene costs rise, according to the various fuel retailers.

The retailers announced a P0.10 per liter rollback in gasoline, offering minor relief for motorists. In contrast, diesel will climb by P0.60 per liter and kerosene by P0.40, reflecting global crude market fluctuations.

However, Seaoil and Jetti Petroleum confirmed diesel price hikes will be deferred in areas hit by recent typhoons, responding to a request from the Department of Energy. Seaoil will defer diesel increases in Ilocos and Cagayan Valley, while Jetti will hold off in the National Capital Region, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Bataan, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Oriental Mindoro, and Negros Occidental.

The adjustments take effect 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, with Seaoil raising all three fuel types and Jetti implementing cuts on gasoline and diesel—excluding kerosene, which it does not carry.

Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said the upward push in diesel prices resulted from tight regional supply and firm demand, while gasoline softened amid inventory build-ups and lower consumption. Bellas also cited improving global market sentiment following a U.S.-Japan trade deal and falling U.S. fuel stockpiles.

Before this week’s changes, fuel prices had risen by P1.10 (gasoline), P2.50 (diesel), and P1.50 (kerosene) over the past two weeks. Year-to-date, pump prices have increased by P9.30 (gasoline), P13.05 (diesel), and P2.95 (kerosene).

Per DOE data, fuel prices from 22 to 28 July in Metro Manila average P53.50/liter for RON 91 gasoline, P53.10 for diesel, and P75.11 for kerosene.
