Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), the country’s sixth-largest lender by assets, has elected former Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez as an independent director.
Dominguez, who served as finance secretary from July 2016 to June 2022, will also chair two of RCBC’s key board committees—Related Party Transactions and Anti-Money Laundering—and serve as a member of the Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee.
With more than four decades of experience in both government and the private sector, Dominguez brings deep financial and regulatory expertise to the board. He previously sat on the Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, served as Philippine Governor to the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, and was alternate governor to the International Monetary Fund. He also held the post of agriculture secretary.
In the private sector, Dominguez served as president or chief executive officer of several major corporations, including BPI Agricultural Development Bank and Philippine Airlines. His distinguished career has earned him numerous honors, including the Order of Lakandula with the Rank of Grand Cross and the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, conferred by the Emperor of Japan.
Dominguez will assume the post left vacant by Gabriel S. Claudio, effective at the close of business on Monday, July 28.
