Globe advances tower deal with MIDC, PhilTower

Globe Telecom Inc., a leading digital platform in the Philippines, has further advanced its tower sale and leaseback initiatives with two major partners—MIESCOR Infrastructure Development Corp.  and Phil-Tower Consortium Inc. (PhilTower).

Globe said the sale of 12 ground-based towers in Luzon to MIDC for approximately P144 million, and a separate sale of 84 towers in Visayas and Mindanao to PhilTower for around P1.2 billion. Of the towers sold to PhilTower, 71 are ground-based and 13 are rooftop installations.

These transactions mark a key milestone in Globe’s broader infrastructure optimization strategy, which seeks to enhance operational efficiency while unlocking capital for growth initiatives.

To date, Globe has turned over 6,945 towers under its sale and leaseback program, generating approximately P89.3 billion in proceeds. The phased transfers began in 2022 with 2,410 towers, followed by 2,057 in 2023 and 2,205 in 2024. So far in 2025, 273 towers have been closed, contributing P3.5 billion in proceeds.

The tower monetization effort aligns with Globe’s strategic pivot toward asset-light operations, allowing the company to focus more on core digital services across telecommunications, fintech, digital marketing, venture capital, and data analytics.

Globe’s tower initiative, considered one of the largest in Southeast Asia, reflects the industry’s shift toward infrastructure sharing to accelerate network deployment and improve customer experience across urban and rural markets.
