Converge ranks among ASEAN’s best-governed firms

Leading Philippine broadband and technology company Converge ICT Solutions Inc. was named among the Top 5 Publicly Listed Companies (PLCs) in the Philippines and one of the Top 50 PLCs in ASEAN at the 2025 ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

These twin accolades, grounded in the rigorous ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) framework, underscore Converge’s strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical business practices. The ACGS is conducted by the Minority Shareholders Watch Group (MSWG) in partnership with the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

“This recognition is remarkable given we’ve only been publicly listed since 2020,” said Jose “Ping” de Jesus, Converge chairman. “Corporate governance is not just compliance—it’s core to how we do business.”

Corporate sustainability officer Laurice Esteban-Tuason said that Converge stands out as the only non-conglomerate among the Philippines’ Top 5, exceeding the ACGS’s more stringent post-2023 standards.

President and co-founder Grace Uy added, “We’ve built Converge’s growth strategy on integrity. These awards reflect the careful design of our sustainability and governance frameworks.”

    Converge’s governance gains include:

Zero customer data breaches and confirmed corruption incidents in 2024

Strengthened whistleblowing policy with explicit human rights protection

Continuing Board education on tech governance and emerging risks

Institutionalized Sustainability Policy, guided by its Board Risk Oversight Committee

Membership in the UN Global Compact and compliance with global ESG standards

The recognition adds to a string of governance milestones, including a Three Golden Arrow Award from the Institute of Corporate Directors and a ‘low-risk’ ESG rating from Sustainalytics. Global research firm MSCI also upgraded Converge’s ESG rating to ‘AA’, signaling its leadership in risk management within the telecom industry.

The ACGS, updated in 2023 to reflect G20 and OECD principles, now places greater emphasis on sustainability, diversity, and board engagement. Despite tighter benchmarks, Converge’s achievements affirm its place among the region’s best-governed firms.
