Globe blocks 484M scam messages over six months

Globe Telecom intensified its cybersecurity efforts in the first half of 2025, blocking over 484 million scam and spam messages and 5,707 malicious domains, including sites linked to child exploitation and financial fraud. The initiative marks a major push to safeguard its customers and reinforce its commitment to digital safety.

The company also took down 2,785 illegal gambling platforms and filtered out 248,552 URLs containing child sexual abuse materials, supporting compliance with the Anti-Child Pornography Act (RA 9775) in collaboration with local and global authorities, such as the Internet Watch Foundation and Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

“This is about building trust in digital spaces,” said Anton Bonifacio, Globe chief information security officer. “We intercept threats early, partner with global watchdogs, and integrate smarter defenses into our network to keep Filipinos safe online.”

Globe’s StopSpam portal remains a key tool in its fight against cybercrime, processing over 87,000 SIM reports, resulting in the deactivation of nearly 10,000 SIMs on its network and the blacklisting of over 77,000 from other networks.

These efforts form part of the company’s broader #MakeITSafePH campaign, which aims to proactively detect threats, dismantle cybercriminal operations, and protect customers from fraud and abuse in an increasingly digital economy.

With escalating online threats, Globe’s sustained investment in security not only protects users but also enhances customer trust—strengthening its position as a telco committed to safe and responsible connectivity.
