Megaworld targets 9,000 hotel rooms by 2030

Megaworld Corp. is aiming to grow its hotel room inventory to 9,000 keys by 2030, up from the current 6,000, as part of a broader strategy to boost the country’s tourism, conventions, and events sectors. The expansion aligns with parent firm Alliance Global Group Inc. ‘s (AGI) thrust to consolidate and strengthen its hospitality assets.

The listed developer said the increase will come from the development of seven new hotel properties and the integration of existing hotels owned by its sister firms. Upcoming hotels include:

    • Chancellor Hotel (554 rooms) in Boracay Newcoast
    • Belmont Hotel Iloilo (404 rooms) in Iloilo Business Park
    • Kingsford Hotel (300 rooms) in Upper East Bacolod
    • Savoy Hotel Palawan (304 rooms) and Paragua Sands (313 rooms) in San Vicente, Palawan
    • Savoy Capital Town (373 rooms) in Pampanga
    • ArcoVia Hotel (339 rooms) in Pasig City

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts currently operates 13 properties with around 6,000 rooms in major destinations such as Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, and Tagaytay.

As part of its consolidation strategy, Megaworld will also absorb the 326-room Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo into its portfolio this year. Additionally, the Belmont Hotel Mactan in Cebu will rebrand as Mercure Mactan Cebu under Accor, with at least five more hotels expected to follow suit over the next five years.

“Including international hotels in our portfolio will further cement our position as the largest hotel operator in the country,” said Megaworld president and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso.

The expansion supports Megaworld’s long-term plan to leverage its mixed-use townships and hospitality offerings to drive growth across real estate, tourism, and event-driven commerce nationwide.
