ACEN hits 2,100 MW renewable milestone in India

Ayala-led ACEN Corp. has crossed a major milestone in its international expansion, announcing that its attributable renewable energy capacity in India now exceeds 2,100 megawatts (MW). The announcement was made in conjunction with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s recent state visit to India, underscoring the strategic value of ACEN’s growing Indian portfolio.

According to Patrice Clausse, CEO of ACEN International, India has become “a cornerstone” of the company’s regional renewables strategy, citing the country’s target of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and its favorable policy environment as key investment drivers.

Since entering the Indian market in 2019, ACEN has established two key partnerships—UPC Renewables and Yanara (formerly BrightNight India)—enabling it to develop and operate projects across multiple states including Rajasthan, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. Of the total capacity, 630 MW is already operational, with the rest in various stages of development.

“India stands out for its scale, innovation, and openness to global collaboration,” Clausse added, affirming the company’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition.

In a related development, ACEN International has secured a US$100 million loan facility from MUFG Bank Ltd. Singapore Branch, intended to finance or refinance renewable energy investments outside the Philippines. While specific project allocations were not disclosed, the funds will support both ongoing and future initiatives through ACEN’s subsidiaries and joint ventures.

ACEN is targeting a 20,000 MW renewable energy portfolio by 2030, aligned with its broader goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Beyond India and the Philippines, the company’s international footprint spans Australia, the U.S., Vietnam, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Indonesia, Lao PDR, and Malaysia, reinforcing its ambitions to be a key regional player in clean energy.
