Globe has successfully conducted the country’s first live pilot trial of 5G-Advanced, marking a major milestone in local telecom innovation. This next-generation wireless technology, also known as 5.5G, brings faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability — promising significant benefits for both consumers and businesses.
The trial, held in Bonifacio Global City, delivered peak download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps in real-world conditions. This means users can expect quicker movie downloads, smoother cloud gaming, and better support for advanced applications like Extended Reality (XR), smart devices, autonomous vehicles, and AI-powered tools.
Utilizing a 5G Stand-alone (SA) network and advanced technologies such as Massive MIMO and 3NR Carrier Aggregation, Globe showcased how 5G-Advanced can unlock multi-gigabit speeds and differentiated services, enhancing everyday digital experiences for Filipinos.
“Globe has consistently demonstrated its commitment to technological leadership,” said Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz, emphasizing the company’s role in empowering the nation through cutting-edge connectivity.
Globe’s successful trial places the Philippines alongside a small group of global frontrunners, with only six operators worldwide having commercially launched 5G-Advanced services as of May 2025, according to the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA).
By being the first in the country to pilot this innovation, Globe reinforces its position as a pioneer in next-gen connectivity, shaping a more digitally empowered future for Filipinos.
