New P89-M EDSA Kamuning Busway Concourse Underway

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has begun construction of the new EDSA Busway Kamuning Concourse, a modern pedestrian facility worth ₱89.12 million, aimed at improving commuter access and safety.

The project replaces the steep and controversial “Mt. Kamuning” footbridge, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered dismantled in June, citing its inaccessibility and commuter inconvenience.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the new concourse, modeled after the SM North Busway Concourse, will include a pedestrian-friendly walkway, wheelchair lifts, and mobility features for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. He emphasized that construction, using pre-fabricated components, will minimize disruption to EDSA traffic.

“The President said our commuters can’t wait any longer. They have been suffering for a long time, so we will expedite its construction,” Dizon said.

The concourse is set to be completed by December 2025.
