Fintech leader Maya announced it will disable access to gaming sites and apps via its Games feature starting August 16 at 8:00 PM, in compliance with a directive from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The move reflects Maya’s firm commitment to corporate responsibility and regulatory alignment.
The BSP earlier instructed supervised financial institutions to remove in-app links to online gambling platforms to strengthen safeguards in the financial system.
“Maya fully supports the BSP and other government efforts to ensure a safe, responsible, and resilient financial system for all Filipinos,” the company said in a statement.
As part of the transition, customers may withdraw remaining funds from gaming accounts to their Maya Wallet until the cutoff. Afterward, withdrawals must be made directly through the gaming providers’ platforms.
Reaffirming its stance, Maya emphasized its dedication to consumer protection, continued service availability, and close coordination with regulators to maintain high compliance and security standards.
