Maya, PSC partner to digitize and empower Philippine sports

Leading digital bank Maya has partnered with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in a strategic initiative to modernize the country’s sports ecosystem through digital innovation and financial empowerment.

Under the program “Championing the Pinoy Athlete,” the collaboration aims to digitize sports governance and provide cashless solutions for the disbursement of allowances to athletes and coaches. The system enhances transparency and accountability for National Sports Associations (NSAs), while also streamlining athlete support services.

The partnership also introduces integrated financial tools—such as savings, credit, insurance, and investment products—designed to promote long-term financial wellness among athletes, coaches, and PSC staff.

Maya Group president and Maya Bank co-founder Shailesh Baidwan emphasized the broader impact of the initiative, stating it is “about more than technology—it’s about giving our athletes the support they deserve both on and off the field.”

PSC chairman John Patrick Gregorio affirmed the agency’s commitment to modern governance, calling the initiative “a game-changer” that ensures swift, secure, and transparent support for Filipino athletes.

Beyond financial modernization, the initiative also aims to enhance fan engagement and corporate collaboration during key national sports events—highlighting the commercial relevance of digital transformation in the sports sector.

Maya continues to build on its track record of supporting national sports, including the UAAP and Olympic campaigns, while leveraging its position as the country’s top digital bank to help uplift the broader sports community.
