The various fuel retailers are implementing mixed price adjustments this week, highlighting evolving global market dynamics. Gasoline prices are up by ₱0.60 per liter, while diesel and kerosene see respective rollbacks of ₱0.80 and ₱0.90 per liter.
The adjustments, effective Tuesday morning, will be rolled out by major fuel players including Seaoil, Caltex, Jetti, and Clean Fuel. Specific implementation times vary: Seaoil and Jetti at 6:00 a.m., Caltex at 6:01 a.m., and Clean Fuel at 8:01 a.m. Notably, Clean Fuel and Jetti do not carry kerosene.
According to Jetti Petroleum Inc. president Leo Bellas, the divergent pricing reflects “mixed trading signals” in global crude markets. A seasonal uptick in U.S. gasoline demand is propping up pump prices, while weaker diesel demand and rising inventory levels are pushing distillate prices down. He also cited macroeconomic factors, including easing U.S.-China trade tensions and expectations of a possible U.S. interest rate cut, as supporting global oil price stability.
These latest changes follow last week’s uniform price rollbacks of ₱0.40 for gasoline, ₱1.50 for diesel, and ₱1.30 for kerosene. On a year-to-date basis, pump prices have posted net increases of ₱11.40/liter for gasoline, ₱11.95/liter for diesel, and ₱1.75/liter for kerosene, based on Department of Energy (DOE) data.
For the week of 12 to 18 August, Metro Manila pump prices average ₱54.90/liter for RON 91 gasoline, ₱56.40 for diesel, and ₱73.60 for kerosene, per DOE monitoring.
