CamSur cold storage facility on track for completion by year-end

The Department of Agriculture (DA) announced that the P500-million cold storage facility in Camarines Sur is on schedule for completion by December 2025.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte inspected the site over the weekend. The facility is expected to enhance food security, reduce post-harvest losses, and boost farmers’ income in Bicol and surrounding regions.

The complex will house six refrigerated warehouses with a total capacity of over 1,300 metric tons, capable of storing various agricultural commodities including vegetables, meat, poultry, and fish. It also features solar power integration, a blast freezer, and a processing and packing area to support value-added services.

“This is a big step in empowering farmers to extend shelf life, reduce spoilage, and tap into bigger markets,” said Secretary Tiu Laurel. Governor Villafuerte added that the facility will help local producers diversify and increase profitability.

The CamSur project is part of a broader cold storage initiative that includes upcoming facilities in Taguig, Cabanatuan, Isabela, and Occidental Mindoro, along with the rollout of over 100 modular units nationwide.
