EV vans power Monde Nissin’s sustainable bread delivery

Monde Nissin Corp. has launched Monde Fresh Express, a last-mile delivery initiative that uses electric vans to distribute its bread products. This shift to EV-powered logistics aims to lower carbon emissions, reduce noise pollution, and enhance delivery frequency in dense urban areas.

According to CEO Henry Soesanto, the initiative underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability as a core business strategy. “We’re proving that we can deliver growth while also delivering cleaner air, greener cities and more inclusive opportunities for Filipinos,” he said.

The pilot phase began in Luzon with entrepreneur-dealers managing local distribution. Monde Nissin plans to expand this model further in August amid growing interest from local partners. The electric vehicles are supplied by a BYD dealer and are optimized for short-haul, multi-stop routes.

Chief sustainability officer Rizza Cajucom-Uy emphasized that the program not only reduces emissions but also minimizes food waste—a persistent issue in bread distribution due to short shelf life. By increasing delivery frequency and reaching diverse consumer touchpoints, the program improves freshness and helps micro-entrepreneurs grow sustainably.

This move complements Monde Nissin’s existing use of 100% renewable energy in its bread manufacturing, reinforcing its goal to align business operations with environmental and social impact.
