MPower, the retail electricity arm of Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Meralco, has signed a new renewable energy supply contract with The Peninsula Manila, marking a major step in the five-star hotel’s decarbonization strategy.
Under the agreement, MPower will provide clean energy to the iconic luxury hotel, reinforcing its long-standing relationship with The Peninsula Manila, now in its 12th year. This partnership milestone makes the Makati property the second in Southeast Asia—and only the fourth globally—within The Peninsula Hotels portfolio to fully shift to renewable power.
The move supports The Peninsula Manila’s “Sustainable Luxury Vision 2030,” a strategic initiative launched in 2021 aimed at reducing the hotel’s environmental impact by addressing key operational areas such as energy, water, food usage, and climate resilience.
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship,” said The Peninsula Manila Hotel director Kevin Tsang, noting that the shift sets a benchmark for responsible business practices.
MPower head Redel M. Domingo emphasized the commercial and strategic value of the deal: “Our partnership grows stronger with a renewable energy commitment. We are shaping the present with purpose and moving forward with confidence toward sustainable progress.”
MPower continues to expand its renewable energy offerings as part of its mission to provide cost-efficient, climate-aligned solutions to commercial clients.
