SMC Tollways reports steady profit, accelerates TR4 construction

SMC Tollways Corp., a unit of San Miguel Corporation, reported a 3 percent increase in net income to ₱4.9 billion for the first half of 2025, up from ₱4.8 billion year-on-year. The growth reflects improved traffic volume and sustained demand across its expressway network.

Revenue rose 5 percent to ₱11.06 billion, driven by higher vehicular traffic. Notably, SMC Skyway Corp. posted a 3 percent increase in average daily traffic (ADT) to 286,011 vehicles, while Skyway Stage 3 Corp. saw a sharper 9 percent rise in ADT to 176,534.

Cost of services increased 2 percent, attributed to higher amortization from the Skyway Extension and MMSS3 projects, along with increased depreciation, government fees, and maintenance expenses.

On the development front, SMC Tollways is accelerating construction of its ₱50-billion Toll Road 4 (TR4) project. Spanning 66.74 kilometers, TR4 will link Sto. Tomas, Batangas to Lucena City, Quezon. Once completed in 2026, the six-section expressway is expected to cut travel time from three hours to just 45 minutes—significantly enhancing connectivity and commerce in Southern Luzon.

The company’s financial resilience and ongoing infrastructure expansion underscore its growing role in national mobility and economic development.
