Smart Communications is warning customers to stay alert against scam text messages that use deceptive links made to look like legitimate Smart URLs. The telco said on Wednesday it never uses shortened or altered links in its official communications, and only operates through its full domain: https://smart.com.ph.
“Any other version is fraudulent and designed to trick customers into giving away personal information,” said Roy Ibay, VP and head of regulatory affairs at Smart.
Smart clarified that SIM registration links are only sent to unregistered numbers, and only via https://smart.com.ph/SimReg.
The company has blacklisted over 369,000 scam-linked numbers and blocked more than 1.7 billion phishing textsfrom January to July 2025 as part of its intensified anti-scam efforts.
Smart urged the public to stay vigilant, avoid clicking suspicious links, and report scams through:
- HuliSCAM portal: https://smart.com.ph/huliscam
- *Hotline 888 or social media: Smart Communications (Facebook), @SmartCares (X)
- Cybercrime hotline: 1326
- NTC: www.ntc.gov.ph or consumer hotline 1682
“We urge everyone to report scams immediately so we can act quickly,” said Ibay.
