The Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) has formalized an academic-industry partnership with Lopez-led Medical Services of America (Philippines), Inc. (MSA-PH) to enhance the education, training, and career pathways of its respiratory therapy students.
The collaboration was cemented through a memorandum of agreement signed 14 August 2025, at OLFU’s Valenzuela campus. The initiative aims to align academic training with real-world clinical practice and reinforce the supply of highly skilled respiratory therapists in the Philippines.
“This MOA not only supports OLFU students in their professional journey but also strengthens the pipeline of skilled respiratory therapists in the Philippines,” said Dean Hernan C. Labao of OLFU’s College of Respiratory Therapy.
MSA-PH general manager Erwin Chuaunsu called the agreement a “landmark partnership” that places both institutions “at the forefront of respiratory therapy education and clinical practice,” with a shared mission to build stronger bridges between academia and healthcare.
Under the agreement, MSA-PH will support scholarships, provide internship placements, contribute to academic events, and promote OLFU in its corporate channels. In return, OLFU will endorse qualified students, facilitate recruitment initiatives, and coordinate access to educational resources.
MSA-PH, a subsidiary of First Philippine Holdings Corp., is a nationwide provider of cardiopulmonary services and home healthcare, with partnerships in nearly 40 hospitals. OLFU, through its Fatima University Medical Center, has been a leader in healthcare education and service delivery in Northern Metro Manila for over four decades.
The partnership signals a broader corporate-academic synergy aimed at enhancing healthcare talent development in the Philippines.
