A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight bound for Japan returned to Manila on Tuesday morning after experiencing a pressurization issue in-flight, the carrier confirmed.
Flight PR 412, operated by an Airbus A321-231 (A321CEO) registered RP-C9928, was enroute from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) to Kansai International Airport (KIX) when the incident occurred.
In a statement, PAL said the flight crew initiated an emergency descent to a lower altitude and declared an emergency in accordance with standard safety protocols. The issue was later resolved mid-flight, allowing the crew to downgrade the emergency and proceed with a precautionary return to Manila. The aircraft landed safely at approximately 11:20 AM.
All 191 passengers and 8 crew members disembarked safely. PAL’s ground operations team is providing assistance, including meals, baggage handling, and rebooking support for affected passengers.
“Philippine Airlines places the highest priority on the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew, and we are in coordination with the relevant authorities,” the airline said.
The incident is under review in line with aviation safety procedures.
