The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) will implement the final tranche of a multi-year toll rate adjustment for the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) beginning September 9, 2025, marking the completion of a phased increase program aimed at minimizing the financial burden on motorists.
The increase is the third and last under adjustments approved in 2020 and 2022, originally scheduled for 2021 and 2023 but deferred and staggered for smoother implementation. The TRB, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), and NLEX Corp. jointly agreed to the three-phase rollout.
Under the final rates:
- Class 1 vehicles (cars/SUVs) will be charged an additional P0.64/km
- Class 2 vehicles (buses/small trucks), P1.29/km
- Class 3 vehicles (large trucks/trailers), P0.93/km
For example, Class 1 motorists traveling from Mabiga Interchange (Mabalacat City) to Tarlac will pay an extra P25, while those on the Tipo to Tarlac route will see a P66 increase. Class 2 and 3 vehicles will pay higher corresponding rates depending on distance traveled.
The adjustments were implemented following regulatory compliance and thorough reviews, in line with periodic toll increase petitions.
Beyond toll adjustments, officials highlighted ongoing efforts to improve safety and convenience on SCTEX. These include:
- Completion of the New Clark City Interchange
- Upgrades to RFID systems with Neology antennas for improved efficiency
- Installation of new CCTV and speed monitoring systems
- Bridge repairs and structural mitigation projects
- Sustainability efforts, such as rainwater collection systems and solar-wind lighting installations
Authorities emphasize that the adjustments support continued infrastructure upgrades and sustainability initiatives, ensuring SCTEX remains a safe, efficient, and future-ready expressway for all users.
