Travellers to inject up to $450M more Into Westside City Project

Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., led by businessman Andrew Tan, will invest an additional $300 million to $450 million to complete the Westside City integrated resort and casino in Entertainment City, Parañaque.

According to Travellers president and CEO Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez, the added capital will fulfill the remaining requirement of the $1.25 billion total investment needed to bring the project to operational status.

Rodriguez said the casino-resort is slated for a phased opening starting in the third quarter of 2026, with full completion targeted by 2027.

Initially, Travellers’ foreign partner Suntrust Resort Holdings Inc. was expected to build and operate the property. However, Travellers has now assumed full control of development and operations, with Suntrust reducing its stake to 20 percent in Entertainment City Resorts Corp., a subsidiary of Westside Bayshore Holdings Corp.

The Westside City project will feature:

    • Over 2,500 hotel rooms under three brands
    • More than 2,000 gaming machines and tables
    • A theater district including the Apollo Theater and Grand Opera House
    • Multiple restaurants and lifestyle venues

Rodriguez emphasized that despite global challenges facing integrated resorts, the company remains committed to physical casino infrastructure, stating that land-based resorts continue to play a critical role in tourism, culture, and entertainment.

“Online play is not a substitute for the integrated resort experience,” he said. “It’s an additional touchpoint, but the human connection and experience cannot be replicated online.”
