MWIS installs innovative sewage treatment systems in aviation and QSR sectors

Manila Water Infratech Solutions (MWIS), a non-East Zone unit of Manila Water, has successfully deployed its iTECH Packaged Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in two major sectors: quick-service restaurants (QSRs) and aviation. These developments represent a significant leap in sustainable wastewater management in the country.

A first in Philippine aviation, MWIS partnered with a leading aviation company to install the iTECH STP at Lio El Nido Airport in Palawan. Designed to handle complex aircraft lavatory waste, the system uses membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology to treat contaminants, including nitrates and phosphates, while protecting Palawan’s natural environment.

In the QSR sector, a top fast-food chain installed the iTECH unit at its Wilson San Juan branch. The system ensures full compliance with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) standards, safeguarding local water resources and promoting public health.

With a compact, plug-and-play design and a daily treatment capacity of 10 cubic meters, the iTECH STP is ideal for small to medium-sized facilities and remote locations. MWIS emphasized that the technology provides a practical, low-maintenance solution for businesses aiming to meet environmental compliance and sustainability goals.

MWIS encourages more industries to adopt its cost-effective, DENR-compliant wastewater treatment solutions as part of their environmental stewardship efforts.
