The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has issued freeze orders on the assets and bank accounts of multiple Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials and private contractors allegedly involved in fraudulent or “ghost” infrastructure projects, according to Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon.
AMLC Executive Director Matthew David confirmed that the Court of Appeals granted a freeze order covering 135 bank accounts and 27 insurance policies belonging to the individuals and corporations under investigation.
This move follows Dizon’s formal request to AMLC to act against those suspected of involvement in corruption within the DPWH.
