Digital finance giants team up for ₱2.75B lending push

Southeast Asia’s leading digital finance platform Atome and the country’s top digital bank Maya Bank have signed a ₱2.75 billion (approx. US$48 million) loan channeling agreement aimed at expanding access to credit for millions of underserved Filipinos.

Under the partnership, Maya Bank will provide funding through Atome’s lending platform, enabling creditworthy customers in the Philippines to access responsible, risk-managed, and transparent financing options. The initiative is positioned as a major step toward financial inclusion and digital empowerment.

“We are deeply honored to partner with Maya Bank, a true trailblazer in digital banking,” said Christian Quiros, president and country general manager of Atome Philippines. “Together, we are making flexible payment options more accessible for millions, aligned with Atome’s mission to improve lives through financial access and technology.”

Angelo Madrid, president of Maya Bank, emphasized the strategic value of the partnership, saying, “This collaboration leverages digital technology to bring fast, secure, and responsible financing into the hands of underserved customers, helping them build financial confidence and resilience.”

The partnership builds on Atome’s rapid growth, with the Singapore-based fintech processing over US$2 billion in GMV in 2024 and surpassing US$4 billion annualised GMV by mid-2025. In the Philippines alone, Atome has served over 4 million Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) users.

Maya Bank, launched in 2022 and regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, anchors the country’s most comprehensive digital finance ecosystem. It powers the Maya app, Maya Business, and Maya Center, offering integrated savings, deposits, and credit solutions for consumers and MSMEs.

The loan agreement underscores a growing trend of digital financial partnerships in Southeast Asia, reinforcing efforts to build a more inclusive and resilient financial ecosystem in the Philippines.
