PLDT Enterprise, in partnership with apoQlar, is introducing Mixed Reality (MR) technology to the Philippine healthcare sector. Through a proof-of-concept (POC) at a local hospital, the companies are deploying HoloMedicine, a cloud-based MR solution powered by Microsoft Azure.
This innovative platform aims to tackle challenges in healthcare, such as the limitations of 2D imaging, preoperative planning risks, and training inequities, by offering enhanced diagnostic accuracy, streamlined surgical planning, and remote collaboration capabilities.
Gio Abaquin, head of strategic business development at PLDT Enterprise, emphasized the potential of MR to revolutionize healthcare delivery, training, and collaboration across distances. The POC will be supported by PLDT’s 5G network and aims to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and patient-centered. The HoloMedicine platform has already been adopted by top global medical institutions, and its immersive features are expected to strengthen medical curricula and improve proctoring experiences in the Philippines.
The platform’s cloud-based architecture addresses data privacy concerns, ensuring compliance with regulations and securing patient information. This initiative marks a significant step toward digital transformation in healthcare, offering scalable solutions for improved care and education.
