The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has assured customers that its response teams are ready to address power-related issues as Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) brings heavy rains and potential flooding to parts of its franchise area. With tropical cyclone warning signals raised and intensified southwest monsoon rains expected, Meralco said it is closely monitoring the weather to ensure swift action.
Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga emphasized that crews are strategically deployed and on 24/7 standby. He urged the public to stay alert and prioritize safety, particularly in areas prone to flooding.
The company also reminded customers of key electrical safety measures during floods, such as switching off the main power, unplugging appliances, and ensuring all electrical systems are dry before use. Meralco advised having a licensed electrician inspect any flood-affected equipment before restoring power.
