Globe races to restore services after Typhoon Nando

Globe has begun restoration operations in North Luzon following the impact of Super Typhoon Nando, which disrupted telecommunications services across several provinces. According to Yoly Crisanto, Globe chief sustainability and corporate communications officer, the company has deployed its network teams on the ground to immediately begin repair work, with the priority being the safe and swift restoration of essential communications.

Preliminary assessments show that 276 cities and municipalities in 15 provinces were affected within Globe’s service areas, including Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales. Ilocos Norte was the hardest hit, with 22 towns currently experiencing outages mainly due to widespread power interruptions. Across the region, 100 municipalities are facing service disruptions caused by power loss and transmission issues, with Globe focusing restoration efforts on these critical areas to reconnect residents, local governments, and emergency responders.

To aid communities most impacted by the storm, Globe has also activated several Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging (LTLC) stations offering free calls and charging services. These sites are operational in multiple barangays and towns across Cagayan, including Lallo, Gonzaga, Camalaniugan, Baggao, Sta. Ana, and Aparri, with most running from September 23 to 25, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

In addition to network restoration, Globe is coordinating with partners to deliver relief aid to affected areas.
