The Department of Agriculture (DA), in partnership with the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative (KAMICO), launched a two-day Mechanization Roadshow aimed at modernizing farming practices across Mindoro through the introduction of advanced agricultural equipment and technologies.
The roadshow, organized by DA’s Regional Field Office IV-B and the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech), kicked off Monday in Naujan with over 700 participants from Oriental Mindoro. A second leg for Occidental Mindoro is set for Tuesday with an estimated 500 attendees.
“This is more than just a display of machines — this is our commitment to help farmers become more competitive, efficient, and sustainable,” said Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. in a message read at the event.
The roadshow featured live demonstrations of modern farm equipment such as the TYM four-wheel tractor, BULLS onion mechanization system, and other high-performance tools for rice, corn, and high-value crops. A highlight was the ceremonial turnover of over P41 million worth of rice machinery to 20 farmers’ cooperatives, associations, and local government units (LGUs) across both provinces, under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund.
KAMICO also reaffirmed its commitment to long-term collaboration with the Philippines, citing the upcoming construction of an agricultural machinery manufacturing facility in Tarlac—its first in the country.
With over 1,200 participants expected, the DA-KAMICO Mechanization Roadshow serves as a key platform in the government’s push for agricultural modernization and sustainable food security.
