Manila Water rolls out October desludging schedule

Manila Water has released its October desludging schedule, targeting 22 barangays in the East Zone of Metro Manila and parts of Rizal, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote public health and environmental protection.

According to the utility company, regular septic tank cleaning is essential to prevent overflows, especially during the rainy season, which can lead to the spread of waterborne diseases. The service is being offered at no additional cost, and residents are encouraged to coordinate with their respective barangay offices to be included in the schedule.

Jeric Sevilla, corporate communication affairs group director of Manila Water, stressed the importance of desludging as a preventive measure. “Desludging is one of the frontline defenses against overflow and disease. By keeping septic systems in check, we help protect our communities from the health and environmental risks that come with untreated wastewater,” he said.

For the month of October, Manila Water’s desludging teams will operate in barangays located in Taytay, Montalban (Rodriguez), San Mateo, and Antipolo in Rizal; Pasig City; Taguig City; San Juan City; Quezon City; and Makati City. The company also reminded customers to have their septic tanks cleaned every five years to ensure proper maintenance and sanitation.
