NLEX Corporation Invests P200 Million in SCTEX Tech Upgrade to Boost Safety, Efficiency

NLEX Corp. on Tuesday announced a P200 million investment program upgrading the technology along the 94-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) connecting Central Luzon provinces. The improvements are designed to provide motorists with a smoother, safer, and more efficient travel experience.

The comprehensive upgrade includes the installation of additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and speed monitoring devices to enhance real-time traffic management. Alongside this, the tollway operator is modernizing its computer systems and data processing equipment to optimize overall expressway operations.

Luis Reñon, NLEX president and general manager, emphasized the importance of the project: “The system enhancement program for SCTEX is crucial not only for accelerating travel times but also for enforcing road discipline. These upgrades will enhance safety, reliability, and overall driving confidence for motorists.”

In addition to the technology improvements, NLEX Corp. is also investing in extensive infrastructure maintenance. This includes the start of the annual pavement repair program for SCTEX, which began this month, and the ongoing repair and strengthening of the Pasig-Potrero Bridge in collaboration with the SCTEX owner, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). Routine maintenance such as tree trimming, signage repair, and drainage cleaning are also underway to ensure the expressway remains in top condition.

These initiatives highlight NLEX Corp.’s commitment to providing safe, efficient, and convenient travel options for its users. The company is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), part of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
