The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) continues restoration efforts following the recent earthquake in Cebu, with only one power plant in the Visayas still on forced outage as of 2 p.m. Thursday, affecting 169 MW of capacity.
Three major transmission lines remain non-operational: the Daanbantayan-Tabango 230kV Lines 1 and 2, and the Daanbantayan-Compostela 230kV Line 1. Despite these, NGCP said the Visayas grid is operating under normal conditions.
Meanwhile, NGCP is also preparing for Tropical Storm Paolo. The firm said it has activated contingency measures, including the deployment of line crews to key areas, readiness of communications systems, and availability of repair materials.
NGCP assured the public that its integrated disaster action plan is in effect to ensure minimal disruption to transmission services during the storm’s expected landfall.
