Fast-growing insurer Oona Insurance unveiled two flagship health products on October 1 aimed at providing Filipinos with tailor-fit protection both at home and abroad.
The launch, held at the Manila Marriott Hotel, introduced Global Shield—an international plan with coverage of up to US$2 million—and Purple Shield, a peso-based plan offering up to ₱5 million for local healthcare needs.
The event featured wellness advocate and actress Jodi Sta. Maria, who emphasized the value of preventive care and holistic well-being—core elements of Oona’s health mission.
Oona’s new offerings address growing demand for flexible and comprehensive healthcare options amid rising medical costs. Global Shield caters to globally mobile Filipinos, offering access to top-tier hospitals and specialists worldwide, including competitive options in Singapore. Meanwhile, Purple Shield targets Filipino families seeking quality, affordable care locally.
According to Oona Group CEO Abhishek Bhatia, the launch marks a shift from one-size-fits-all insurance to solutions that offer “quality, choice, and confidence.” Ninoy Rollan, CEO of Oona Philippines, added that the company goes beyond treatment, including wellness services like mental health support, vaccinations, and telemedicine.
A key differentiator is Oona’s digital-first ecosystem, which offers instant quotes, same-day policy issuance, real-time claim tracking, and paperless onboarding. Partnerships with MediLink and Doctor Anywhere further expand access, enabling cashless transactions in over 650 hospitals and online consultations with more than 750 doctors nationwide.
