New Earth breaks ground on Iloilo water project

New Earth Water System Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Boracay Tubi System, Inc. (BTSI), has officially broken ground on the New Earth Iloilo Water Supply Project, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at addressing Iloilo’s growing demand for clean, reliable water.

BTSI is majority-owned by MacroAsia Properties Development Corp.

Backed by an initial investment of P2 billion, the project is the expansion of New Earth into Western Visayas, and is expected to enhance water access for Iloilo’s rapidly expanding communities and industries.

The initial phase includes the construction of a 37.5-million liter per day water treatment facility in Barangay Bongco, Pototan, with scalability to 50 MLD. New Earth will also build the necessary transmission lines and pipeline networks to distribute potable water to municipal off-takers across Iloilo City, Sta. Barbara, Pavia, Oton, Leganes, Cabatuan, Maasin, and San Miguel.

The facility is expected to be completed within two years, with the potential to significantly reduce the province’s water shortfall. New Earth holds the required water rights, including a Certificate of Public Convenience, authorizing it to operate across key areas in Iloilo.

“Water is the lifeblood of Iloilo’s growth, and shortages must not become a barrier to progress,” said Eduardo Luis T. Luy, chairman of New Earth and BTSI. “This facility will bridge supply gaps and provide a sustainable solution for future demand.”

Tariffs will remain competitive, balancing affordability with operational sustainability. The project is positioned to bolster public health, economic development, and Iloilo’s resilience to climate-driven water scarcity.
