The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has opened emergency loan applications for members and pensioners in Davao Oriental affected by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake. Applications will be accepted until December 14, 2025.
This is part of GSIS’s ongoing assistance to disaster-hit areas, with emergency loans also available in Cebu (magnitude 6.9 earthquake), Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon (typhoon Opong), Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Dagupan City (super typhoon Nando), and Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur (flooding). Over P5.4 billion has been allocated for more than 224,000 qualified members and pensioners.
GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso emphasized the agency’s commitment to supporting government workers and retirees during crises, noting relaxed loan requirements following a local declaration of a state of calamity.
Eligible active members must be working or residing in affected areas, with no due and demandable GSIS loans, not on unpaid leave, with updated premiums for the past six months, no pending administrative or criminal case, and a minimum monthly take-home pay of P5,000.
Old-age and disability pensioners may also apply, provided they retain at least 25 percent of their monthly pension after loan deductions.
Borrowers with existing GSIS emergency loans may borrow up to P40,000, with a net take-home of P20,000. Those without existing loans may avail of P20,000. Applications can be submitted via the GSIS Touch mobile app.
The loan is payable in 36 monthly installments with a 6% annual interest rate, and is covered by loan redemption insurance.
Deadlines for other areas range from October 24 to November 30, depending on location.
