Maya Philippines Inc. and Maya Bank Inc., the companies behind the Maya all-in-one finance app, have successfully renewed their ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications—international standards for information security and privacy management.
Maya was the first digital bank in the Philippines to receive these certifications, earning ISO 27001 in 2022 and ISO 27701 in 2023. Both entities continue to meet global standards through annual audits, showing their strong and consistent approach to protecting user data.
“Our security-first design ensures customers have control and protection built into every feature,” said Dr. Ken Baylor, Maya Group’s chief information security officer.
The renewal comes during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, highlighting Maya’s continued focus on making safety part of everyday digital banking.
Maya builds security and privacy features from the ground up, following best practices from the Philippines’ Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It also holds PCI DSS certification and has received recognition from the National Privacy Commission.
Through its in-app Security Center, users can freeze cards, set limits, manage access, and monitor activity with the help of biometric login, one-time passwords, and AI-powered fraud detection.
“Security should feel real and actionable for customers—not just hidden in the background,” said Maya Group president and Maya Bank co-founder Shailesh Baidwan.
Beyond tech, Maya promotes digital safety through public awareness campaigns like Scam Patrol and partnerships with national agencies through PROTECTA PILIPINAS Fintech, aiming to strengthen the country’s defenses against online fraud.
