The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) has formalized a partnership with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) to strengthen data privacy and regulatory compliance across the country’s gaming industry.
The collaboration was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on October 20 at PAGCOR’s Corporate Office in Pasay City. The agreement is a strategic step toward addressing data privacy challenges, enhancing inter-agency coordination, and promoting a secure and trusted environment for both gaming operators and patrons.
PAGCOR Chairman and chief exectuive officer Alejandro H. Tengco said the agreement underscores PAGCOR’s commitment to protecting the personal data of its employees, licensees, and gaming customers. “This MOU with the NPC is a vital step in aligning PAGCOR’s policies and processes with the evolving data privacy landscape,” Tengco said. “It reinforces our duty to protect personal information while ensuring our operations remain transparent, compliant, and trustworthy.”
Tengco said the initiative will also fast-track the creation of a comprehensive database of government officials and employees who are banned from gambling in casinos and other gaming venues.
NPC Chairman and Privacy Commissioner Atty. John Henry Naga welcomed the move, noting that partnerships between regulators are critical in industries handling high volumes of sensitive data.
“The formalization of this collaboration between NPC and PAGCOR underscores the security of our citizens’ personal data, which is not just a regulatory requirement but a hallmark of excellence in the gaming industry,” Naga said.
