Orchestra of the Filipino Youth honored at first Filipino Music Awards

Ang Misyon, Inc. (AMI), through its flagship program, the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY), was recognized as Music Foundation of the Year at the inaugural Filipino Music Awards (FMA) 2025, held on October 21 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Launched in August 2025, the FMAs aim to celebrate the country’s dynamic music scene, honoring Filipino artistry across genres and generations. This year’s event also introduced Legacy Awards, which pay tribute to individuals and organizations that have significantly advanced Filipino music excellence.

Among the Legacy Award recipients, Ang Misyon – Orchestra of the Filipino Youth was cited for providing free classical music education to young musicians and for its commitment to making orchestral music more accessible to Filipino youth. Since its founding, the organization has supported more than 1,200 young scholars who might not otherwise have access to formal music training.

“Ang aming success ay nasusukat sa dami ng mga kabataang pinoy na aming natutulungan, nahuhubog, at nabibigyan ng pag-asa ng magandang kinabukasan,” said Mickey Muñoz, executive director of Ang Misyon. “Ito ang aming mission, passion, advocacy, at legacy – ang ipamamana namin sa kabataang Pilipino ngayon at sa mga susunod na henerasyon.”

Ang Misyon expressed its gratitude to Mr. Federico R. Lopez, chairman and CEO of First Philippine Holdings Corporation, for his continued vision and support, and to Ms. Shirley Cruz, vice president of Ang Misyon, for her guidance and advocacy. Their belief in music as a catalyst for change continues to inspire the organization’s mission of transforming lives and nurturing the next generation of Filipino musicians and leaders.
