PLDT, BDO partner in AI-driven data center project

BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO) has partnered with VITRO Inc., the data center arm of the PLDT Group, to finance and support the country’s most advanced data center, VITRO Santa Rosa (VSR).

“We want to position the Philippines as a competitive player in the global digital economy. VITRO Santa Rosa is not just a data center – it’s the backbone of the country’s digital economy in the AI era,” said Victor S. Genuino, president and CEO of VITRO Inc.

Purpose-built for artificial intelligence workloads, the VSR facility offers up to 50MW of power capacity, 4,500 racks, advanced cooling systems, and top-tier global certifications. It is positioned as a key hub for hyperscalers and leading digital players.

Part of VITRO’s nationwide data center network, VSR supports mission-critical operations for industries such as online banking, e-commerce, and cloud services. Designed for resilience, the centers operate continuously even during disasters or power outages, ensuring business continuity within a secure and interconnected digital ecosystem.

“Supporting PLDT’s VITRO Santa Rosa reflects BDO’s commitment to advancing the country’s digital competitiveness. By backing future-ready infrastructure, we are driving innovation, opening doors to global investment and creating long-term opportunities for the economy,” said Charles M. Rodriguez, BDO Unibank executive vice president and head of institutional banking group.

BDO provided a flexible credit facility that enabled VITRO to manage cash flows during construction, alongside customized cash management solutions to digitize payment systems and enhance operational efficiency.

By financing the country’s first AI-ready hyperscale data center, BDO strengthens the Philippines’ position in the global digital landscape, supporting innovation, investment, and sustainable economic growth.
