Yuchengco-led Rizal Green Energy Corp.(RGEC) has successfully completed the grid connection for its 40-megaWatt direct current (MWDC) Limbauan Solar Power Project (LSPP) in Isabela on October 25, a major development in the company’s growing renewable energy portfolio.
The project, developed through RGEC’s operating unit BKS Green Energy Corp. (BKSGEC), consists of two phases: a 6 MWDC Phase 1 embedded within the Isabela Electric Cooperative’s (ISELCO) distribution system, and a 34 MWDC Phase 2 directly linked to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) 69-kilovolt Tuguegarao-Cabangan transmission line.
BKSGEC substantially completed construction of the solar facility and its connection infrastructure in August 2025. Following NGCP’s provisional approval to connect issued on October 24, BKSGEC, together with contractor Harmonics System Inc. (HSI), successfully synchronized Phase 2 with the NGCP grid while connecting Phase 1 to ISELCO’s 13.8 kV line at the Cabangan substation.
The project is now awaiting NGCP’s approval of its Energization Request, filed on August 29, before it can begin injecting power into the Luzon grid.
The LSPP forms part of RGEC’s 112 MWDC portfolio of utility-scale solar developments. Other projects include the 27 MWDC Dagohoy Solar Power Project in Isabela, 19.6 MWDC San Jose Solar Power Project in Nueva Ecija, and the 25 MWDC Bugallon Solar Power Project in Pangasinan. Two of these facilities began commercial operations earlier this year, while the Bugallon project awaits energization approval.
