PCC OKs Raslag-Verdant JV for Mindoro wind and battery project

The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) has approved Raslag Corp.’s joint venture with Singapore-based Verdant Philippines Alpha Pte. Ltd. for a renewable energy project in Mindoro.

Raslag said the clearance, issued on October 23, allows both parties to acquire shares in Philippine Hybrid Energy Systems Inc. and PHESI Holdings Corp. The partnership will develop and operate a 16-megawatt (MW) wind farm supported by a 7.3 MW battery energy storage system in Puerto Galera, which will include eight wind turbines.

The project marks Raslag’s move beyond solar energy as it targets 1,000 MW of renewable capacity by 2035.

Earlier this month, Raslag also tapped Greencity Energy Philippines Inc. as the owners’ engineer for its 100 MW solar and battery project in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, with GCE handling design, construction, and commissioning.

Raslag currently operates 77.8 MW of renewable projects, with 140 MW in pre-development and 190 MW proposed.
