The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has completed upgrades to its Calamba 230 kV-115 kV substation to improve electricity reliability for parts of Laguna and Batangas.
The project included installing a third 300 MVA power transformer, along with new 115 kV and 230 kV circuit breakers and updated protection and control panels.
Meralco said the upgrade will support rising power needs for key establishments like SM City Calamba, SM City Sto. Tomas, hospitals, and major manufacturing companies, as well as nearby communities.
The company did not disclose the cost but emphasized it continues to invest in modernizing its electricity distribution system for stable and reliable service.
Meralco serves the entire Metro Manila area and parts of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, and Pampanga.
