ACEN’s 400-MW solar project in Australia now fully operational

ACEN Corp., the renewable energy arm of Ayala Corp., announced that its Australian subsidiary, ACEN Australia, has achieved full commercial operations for the 400-megawatt (MW) Stubbo Solar project in New South Wales.

The AUD760 million project is the first solar generator in the state to operate under a long-term energy service agreement. It can produce enough clean electricity to power around 185,000 Australian homes and includes plans for a 200 MW / 800 MWh battery energy storage system.

ACEN Australia executive chairman Jose Maria Zabaleta said the project demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to supporting Australia’s clean energy transition and highlights how strong policy and partnerships can drive large-scale renewable investments.

Stubbo Solar is also the first large-scale solar farm certified for full circularity under the circular PV alliance framework, ensuring all 930,000 solar panels will be reused or recycled at the end of their lifespan.

During construction, ACEN invested nearly AUD85 million into the New South Wales economy, including AUD60 million for local contracts, jobs, and procurement. The project also contributed AUD3.2 million to First Nations businesses and over AUD400,000 to community programs supporting education, skills development, and local well-being.

ACEN aims to grow its renewable energy portfolio to 20,000 MW by 2030 and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The company has allocated up to ₱70 billion in capital spending this year and expects to complete 1,200 MW of new renewable capacity by the end of 2025, with ongoing projects in the Philippines, Laos, and India, among others.
