The Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing the establishment of a Multiple Energy Resources Committee to strengthen inter-bureau collaboration, enhance accountability, and ensure fair recognition of existing energy contracts.
On Wednesday, the DOE said the committee would act as a central coordinating body to harmonize project planning and implementation across its bureaus and offices. It aims to prevent project overlaps and ensure compliance with environmental, technical, and regulatory standards.
Alongside the committee, the DOE plans to craft a policy framework governing the exploration, development, and utilization of multiple energy resources within a single area. The framework seeks to promote an integrated and sustainable approach, outlining guidelines for simultaneous resource development while upholding efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Energy Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella called for public and private sector participation, saying their insights would help balance development with sustainability and responsible resource use.
The DOE is currently studying the inclusion of hydrogen, nuclear, offshore wind, and tidal energy in the country’s future power mix.
