McDonald’s PH named Employer of the Year by PMAP

McDonald’s Philippines has been named Employer of the Year by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), recognizing the company’s outstanding people management and purpose-driven practices.

The fast-food giant was the unanimous choice for the top award, besting several leading companies. It was also given Exemplar Status for the National Capital Region during the PMAP annual conference held in Cebu City.

McDonald’s president and CEO Kenneth Yang accepted the award, dedicating it to the nearly one million Filipinos who have been part of the “McFamily.” Yang emphasized the company’s mission to create jobs, support communities, and drive national growth, noting that every new McDonald’s store generates 80 to 100 new jobs.

Since opening its first branch in 1981 under chairman and founder Dr. George T. Yang, McDonald’s Philippines has maintained direct hiring and non-contractual employment, setting it apart in the quick-service restaurant industry.

Earlier this year, the Yang family secured a 20-year license renewal to operate McDonald’s in the Philippines, reinforcing confidence in their leadership. The company now runs over 800 stores nationwide with 70,000 employees, 70 percent of whom are working students supported by flexible schedules and global-standard training programs.

“Since 1981, we’ve been proud to contribute to economic growth and create opportunities for Filipinos,” said Yang. “We’ll continue lighting up more Golden Arches—and more opportunities—for generations to come.”
