Mastercard appoints Jason Crasto as country manager for the Philippines

Mastercard has named Jason Crasto as its new country manager for the Philippines, tasked with leading the company’s strategic direction and operations in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital payments markets.

In his new role, Crasto will drive Mastercard’s initiatives to support the Philippines’ national digital payments roadmap, working with government and industry partners to promote secure, inclusive, and innovative payment solutions for consumers and businesses.

Crasto brings over 20 years of experience in the payments industry, having led initiatives across consumer, commercial, and digital segments. Since joining Mastercard in 2020, he has managed key client relationships and product portfolios, advancing innovation in card payments and digital ecosystems.

“Jason’s leadership and expertise will be pivotal as Mastercard strengthens its role in the Philippines’ digital transformation journey,” said Safdar Khan, division president for Southeast Asia at Mastercard.

Crasto expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, saying he looks forward to collaborating with Mastercard’s partners to “deliver innovative payment solutions that empower Filipinos and foster a more connected and inclusive digital future.”

His appointment comes as digital adoption accelerates in the Philippines, with over 57 percent of retail transactions now digital, according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Crasto’s experience in building digital ecosystems across South Asia is expected to help sustain this momentum and unlock new opportunities for growth.

Crasto holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics.
