The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has announced a waiver of roll-on/roll-off terminal fee (RRTF) for all vehicles carrying rescue equipment and essential supplies for the government’s disaster relief and recovery operations following Super Typhoon Uwan.
PPA general manager Jay Santiago said the directive, effective November 9, covers vehicles transporting officially consigned government-owned rescue equipment or relief cargo to affected areas. The waiver applies to all vehicles, whether publicly or privately owned, as long as they are part of authorized operations by national agencies, local governments, or other government bodies involved in disaster response.
Santiago said the move follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure the speedy delivery of government aid. “This will help life-saving equipment and essential supplies reach affected communities without delay,” he said.
All PPA port management offices have been ordered to prioritize these vehicles, ensure proper documentation, and coordinate with the DSWD, Philippine Coast Guard, Office of Civil Defense, and local governments to verify the legitimacy of the operations.
The PPA said it remains on full alert and committed to supporting the efficient transport of aid and government resources to areas hit by the typhoon.
