Mega Agri-Farm Corp. is planning to expand its poultry farm in Mayantoc, Tarlac, to accommodate up to 480,000 birds, five times its current capacity of 98,000.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will hold a public scoping on November 14, 2025, where the company will present details of the project and gather feedback from local residents and stakeholders.
The proposed expansion will cover nearly 45,000 square meters and include new facilities, equipment, utilities, and environmental management systems. The farm is located between two existing poultry operations, with buffers to residential areas, in line with designated agro-industrial zones.
Mega Agri-Farm said the move is driven by rising demand for poultry meat, a staple protein source in Filipino households. The company aims to boost production, improve efficiency, and remain competitive while incorporating environmentally responsible practices such as waste management, biosecurity, and noise and odor control.
The project requires an amendment to the farm’s Environmental Compliance Certificate to allow the larger capacity.
