SMC sends fresh aid to Cebu after Typhoon Tino

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has delivered new relief supplies to Cebu, where thousands of people are still staying in evacuation centers more than a week after Typhoon Tino hit on November 4.

Employee-volunteers from SMC’s Cebu operations distributed food packs and other essentials to evacuation sites in Mandaue City, Cebu City, and the northern towns of Consolacion, Liloan, and Compostela. The company also deployed teams to provide clean drinking water as many areas continue to face water supply disruptions.

Local disaster officials say many families remain displaced because damaged homes and lost income are slowing recovery efforts. The situation has been made worse by a magnitude-6.9 earthquake that struck the province just a month before the typhoon.

SMC chairman and CEO Ramon S. Ang said the company stands with affected communities as they work to recover from back-to-back disasters.

Across the San Miguel Group, employees are also raising funds through the “Tulong para sa Pagbangon” initiative to help families affected by Typhoons Tino and Uwan in other parts of the country.
